Ping G10 Irons

Posted by Inspiring Golfer

The Ping G10 irons perform as good as they look! The awesome finish was first used last year on the companies' Rapture irons. Now it’s been chosen as the perfect image-maker for the Ping G10’s. We reckon this is a master stroke as Ping irons in the past have usually had a duller less interesting finish.

Ping engineers have fine-tuned the amount of offset in the long irons which helps make them super forgiving whilst reducing offset in the short irons to increase control.

The darker faces frame the ball at address and extra weight located in the toe area helps raise the MOI. Meaning when you happen to miss shots you’ve a better chance the golf ball might still hit the green. Which is a real bonus when it comes to shaving the odd shot or two from a round!

The 17-4 stainless steel G10 irons are engineered with extreme low toe weighting to increase the moment-of-inertia for added forgiveness and consistency. The large, perimeter-weighted head features a new cavity shape and wider sole.

The centre of gravity is positioned away from the face and low in the club head to promote higher launching, lower spinning shots. By creating a new shape for the Custom Tuning Port (CTP), PING engineers stabilized the hitting area for consistent ball velocity across the club face. An elastomer CTP insert helps produce a solid feel and sound. The wide sole provides forgiving ground impact and contributes to the high launch characteristics of the iron.

“The cavity design of the G10 allowed us to add a lot more performance to our large headed, maximum forgiveness iron option,” said John K. Solheim, PING’s Vice-President of Engineering. “We’re able to remove weight from the face yet make it even more stable than before. The weight is then repositioned in the low toe to drive up the MOI and increase forgiveness. It’s a game improvement iron that will appeal to a variety of golfers.”

The G10 irons feature a stainless steel shot finish and Atomic Orange colour scheme and are available in 2-9, PW, UW, SW and LW.
